Family Financial Support & Early Years Entitlements Have you been so busy caring for your baby and adjusting to family life that you have not had time to review the financial support, services and community resources that may be available to your family? The early years can bring significant changes to family finances and daily routines. This free virtual public health education workshop provides an opportunity to increase awareness of financial support, early years entitlements and practical resources that may be available to families during the transition to parenthood. Aim: To promote awareness of financial support, early years entitlements, available services and community resources that may contribute to family stability and wellbeing during early parenthood. This free interactive virtual workshop is designed for parents and caregivers of young children. Delivered through a public health and early years education approach, the session explores practical information relating to financial support and family entitlements. Workshop topics may include: • Child Benefit • Sure Start Maternity Grant • Healthy Start Scheme • Maternity Exemption Certificates • Maternity Leave, Maternity Pay and Maternity Allowance • Paternity Leave and Paternity Pay • Shared Parental Leave and Pay • Neonatal Care Leave and Pay • Universal Credit • Housing support and available assistance • Debt and financial support services • Citizens Advice and other support organisations • Accessing local food banks and community support • Checking eligibility for childcare support • Free childcare for working parents from 9 months of age • Free education and childcare for eligible 2-year-olds Participants will be encouraged to explore available resources and self-check their eligibility for local and national schemes that may support their family's financial circumstances during early parenthood. BHC provides free virtual public health education workshops for parents and families across the UK, supporting the Healthy Child Programme between the 6–8 week Health Visitor review and the 1-year developmental review. Workshop sessions are delivered free of charge and are subject to funding availability and community need. BHC is currently awaiting the outcome of funding applications.
