Free BHC Workshops
BHC Weaning Workshop
Green Parenting: Sustainable Choices for Baby Nappies, Wipes and Everyday Essentials Free Virtual Workshop Are you looking for practical ways to reduce waste, save money and make more sustainable choices for your baby and family? BHC's Green Parenting Workshop is designed to support parents and caregivers with simple, realistic and affordable ways to reduce household waste during early parenthood. Did you know? • Approximately 3 billion disposable nappies are discarded in the UK every year. • A single child may use between 4,000 and 6,000 disposable nappies before toilet training. • Around 31 billion wet wipes are sold in the UK annually, with baby wipes being one of the largest categories. • Disposable nappies account for an estimated 2–3% of all UK household waste. • More than 300,000 disposable nappies are sent to landfill or incinerated every minute worldwide. • Many baby products, including packaging, wipes, bottles and feeding equipment, contribute to household waste and environmental pollution. The workshop explores the environmental impact of everyday baby products and provides practical guidance on reducing waste, recycling, reusing and making informed purchasing choices. Topics include: • Learn how to reduce waste from nappies • Baby bottles and feeding products • Formula tins and packaging • Baby toiletries and household essentials • Reuse, recycling and responsible disposal • Sustainable feeding and reducing food waste • Cost-saving sustainable alternatives • Community sharing, donation and reuse opportunities BHC provides free virtual workshops for parents and families across the UK, supporting the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) between the 6–8 week Health Visitor review and the 1-year developmental review.
