BHC Early Years & Family Wellbeing Project

Weaning Workshop: Aim: Healthy Weaning & Infant Obesity Prevention *Workshop sessions are delivered free of charge and are subject to funding availability and community need. BHC is currently awaiting the outcome of funding applications.* A free virtual workshop designed to help parents and caregivers introduce solid foods safely and confidently from around 6 months. Delivered in line with NHS Start for Life, NHS and NICE guidance, the session covers signs your baby is ready for weaning, first foods, responsive feeding, allergy awareness, healthy meal ideas, texture progression and developing positive eating habits from an early age. The workshop also explores how healthy infant nutrition can support growth and help reduce the risk of long-term childhood obesity. BHC provides free virtual workshops for parents and families across the UK, supporting the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) between the 6–8 week Health Visitor review and the 1-year developmental review. The project promotes healthy infant nutrition, postnatal wellbeing, infant brain development, family budgeting and positive daily routines through accessible, evidence-based early years education delivered in line with NHS and NICE guidelines. BHC hopes parents, caregivers and professionals find the BHC platform helpful and supportive. Platform information and guidance are reviewed monthly by an NMC-registered professional to help ensure content remains safe, evidence-based and systematically up to date.
